This is one of my all-time favorite pieces. I called it story time not so much because the woman is telling the kids a story, but because I was telling myself a story while painting it. My first intention was to display a corner of a garden, however, when I was finished with the flowers, I thought it might be nice to add a woman sitting in a chair. She seemed lonely, so I added one child and then another. All the time I was painting, I was making up a story in my mind and having a ball at it.
